Steel vs Bungee
The Needak uses steel springs while the Bellicon uses a bungee cord. The Needak springs generally last from between 2-5 years depending on use, while the Bellicon lasts about 6 months to 1.5 years. Needak springs can be replaced individually while the entire bungee cord must be replaced each time with the Bellicon. Needak springs do not stretch, and so the bounce remains consistent until replacements are needed. The Bellicon stretches over time, weakening the resistance.
Sound
One central benefit of the Bellicon is that the bungee cord makes less noise than steel springs, and so if having a very quiet exercise session is of primary importance, then a bungee cord system is a better choice. Although noise levels are a subjective consideration, we've found very few complaints about the Needak with regards to noise being an issue.
Price
The Bellicon is significantly more expensive than the Needak, running over $500 more than the Needak equivalent.
Reviews
Both rebounders have received comparable reviews with regards to the bounce, with some complaints about the Bellicon being the poor longevity of the bungee cords, while still being praised for being quiet.
Manufacturing
The Needak is manufactured entirely in USA, while the Bellicon is manufactured in Germany.
Bottom Line
As the Bellicon is more than double the price of the Needak, one would assume it is a superior product. However, research does not support this - bungee chord systems are generally significantly more expensive, but provide no benefit with regards to the bounce. Their main selling point is that they are cosmetically quieter, but are not practical from a long term or financial perspective for most individuals. That being said, both the Bellicon and Needak have received positive reviews for their bounce.
Verdict: The Needak Rebounder for longevity and the bounce, the Bellicon for a slightly quieter session.
